Moving the Migration Policy Agenda Forward (MMPAF) programme
The Moving the Migration Policy Agenda Forward programme (MMPAF) is a capacity-building programme designed for government officials working in migration and/or asylum. It is also open to other practitioners and students interested in managing migration and asylum policies.
A call for scholarship applications is now open for the Fall 2024 courses which will take place fully online. For more details, please see the announcement below and a link to the online application portal.
MMPAF is a series of tutor-led online courses, which use various teaching and evaluation methods, including lectures and interactive sessions with participants. Special attention is paid to hands-on practical exercises, notably the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method.
This MMPAF will offer the following four online courses:
i. Diaspora Engagement,
ii. Migration and Development,
iii. Irregular Migration, and
iv. Migration Policy Coherence.
Eligibility criteria
- Be fluent in spoken and written English
- Hold a minimum Bachelor’s university degree
- Be sufficiently confident in computer skills to follow an education programme online
- Work as government officials in the field of migration and/or asylum in the countries of the EU Southern Neighbourhood, Sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia and Silk Route countries
- Have full and written support from their employers stating that the applicant will not be expected to carry out their work duties for the duration of the MMPAF.

Rappler opens 2024 journalism fellowships for students, community, int’l journalists
MANILA, Philippines – Rappler and the Journalism for Nation Building Foundation (JNBF) are now accepting applications for their two journalism fellowship programs – the Aries Rufo Journalism Fellowship and #FactsMatter Fellowship.
This is the fourth cycle of the program since its launch in 2021 and the second time that campus journalists are being included.
The fellowship programs aim to equip fellows with the tools needed to fight disinformation and effectively cover disruptive digital technologies like generative AI, in both local and international spaces. Specifically:

The Aries Rufo Journalism Fellowship is open to the following:
- Filipino campus journalists enrolled in an accredited college or university and an active member of a campus publication or campus outlet at the time of application.
- Filipino community journalists who are either freelancers or employed by a media organization (print, television, or online) at the time of application.

The RBC Women in Cleantech (WIC) Accelerator, powered by MaRS, is part of the answer.
The RBC Women in Cleantech Accelerator recruits 7-10 outstanding women entrepreneurs for a two-year program that focuses on advancing their breakthrough ideas into market-ready cleantech products with the potential for global impact. The program is guided by principles of diversity, equity and inclusion, and as well as a commitment to the planet.
Who are we looking for?
- Woman-identifying and/or non-binary leaders who are working to commercialize a cleantech innovation with potential for global impact.

- You are looking to join a two-year intensive program to help accelerate the growth of your company.
Program eligibility

In addition to applicant eligibility, your technological innovation should:
- Fall under the definition of “cleantech” which, for the purposes of this Accelerator, is defined as “A company that is focused on the creation of intellectual property and new products that protect and/or increase efficient utilization of land, energy, water and natural resources while improving economic performance and reducing the environmental footprint relative to the baseline.”
- Be proprietary and/or patentable.
- Have potential to scale globally for major impact.
The German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) 2024
Scheme overview
The programme is supported under the UK Government’s International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF). The £337m fund is designed to enable potential and foster prosperity. It puts research and innovation at the heart of our international relationships, supporting UK researchers and innovators to work with peers around the world on the major themes of our time: planet, health, tech, and talent. The fund is managed by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and delivered by a consortium of the UK’s leading research and innovation bodies.
his is the second call for this programme, offering opportunities for Global Innovation Fellowship award holders to embed themselves and be based in the office of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) in Berlin. Awards from the first round can be seen here.
Successful applicants would be expected to produce policy-relevant analysis for German decision-makers. They do not need an understanding of German politics, but they should be able to offer new approaches to typical foreign policy dilemmas in their chosen field and be ready to engage with policymakers and further stakeholders in Germany.

WHAT ARE THE HELLO TOMMOROW GLOBAL CHALLENGE?
The Global Challenge is a renowned international startup competition organized by Hello Tomorrow since 2014. It is uniquely designed to address the needs of early-stage deep tech startups across all industries.
The Challenge gives deep tech and science-based entrepreneurs around the globe a platform for their projects, providing opportunities for equity-free funding, global visibility and connections with key players in the deep tech ecosystem. To date, previous winners and finalists have already raised more than $3 billion in funding.
Applications are entirely free and open until the September 22nd, 2024.
The Challenge concludes with the Grand Finals which will take place during the Hello Tomorrow Global Summit in Paris on March 13th & 14th 2025.
ELIGIBILITY
We welcome startups that:
- Are in the early-stage of development (from not yet incorporated startups up to series A or early commercialization stage)
- Are based on a new technology, a scientific discovery or a complex engineering process.
- Have a scientific validation of their claim, a proof of concept, a prototype, or are in the process of producing one.
- Have a team of at least 2 people.
- Are not a subsidiary or spin-off of an existing company.
- Foresee an economically viable application on the market within 15 years.
- Have the potential to have a strong impact on the industry targeted, and on society or the environment in general

The Science Panel for the Amazon (SPA), convened under the auspices of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), represents the world’s first high-level regional science initiative dedicated to the conservation and sustainable development of the Amazon. Its mission is “synthesizing and communicating scientific knowledge about the Amazon, integrated with Indigenous and local knowledge, to accelerate solutions for sustainable and equitable development.”
Required Qualifications and Experience
Youth Advisory Committee members must be between the ages of 18 to 30, and will be assessed on the following criteria:
- Demonstrated commitment to the SPA’s values and to working for youth rights, conservation, and/or environmental justice;
- Demonstrated engagement in a scientific career with a focus on a key research discipline of the SPA (if applicable);
- Member in good standing, founder, or leader of a youth-led Amazon conservation/human rights movement, organization, or program at the global, regional, national, or grassroots level;
- Proven ability to dialogue and collaborate with diverse stakeholders across the Amazon conservation movement;
- Strong analytic and communication skills; and
- Ability to serve in an individual capacity.The overall objectives of the Youth Advisory Committee are to:
- Ensure integration of youth perspectives and innovation into the activities and outputs of the SPA;
- Contribute to promoting the SPA and its outputs among young people worldwide; and
- Foster collaboration and partnerships between the SPA and youth organizations, with a focus on advancing education, capacity building, science communication, and representation and networking.

UNESCO Youth Eyes On The Silk Road Photo Contest 2024
The annual Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads International Photo Contest offers an exciting opportunity for young people from all over the world to capture their understanding of the shared heritage of the Silk Roads through the lens of their camera. As the visual arts, and in particular photography, are so often used by today’s youth as a powerful tool for communication and self-expression, images have the potential to play a significant role in raising awareness of the key issues facing our contemporary world and help promote peace and understanding. The photo contest provides an opportunity for young people to connect with one another in a digital space and share their creativity and vision for our future.
Organized within the framework of the UNESCO Silk Roads Programme, and in line with the objectives of the UNESCO Youth Programme, by UNESCO’s Social and Human Sciences Sector, the 2024 edition of the Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads photo contest is open for entries from 2 May to 14 July 2024.
- How do I enter the competition?
First, visit the official website and create a profile. You must submit at least one image to enter. Afterward, you will have the opportunity to choose a maximum of 20 images that illustrate the following themes: ‘Life Celebrations’.

A 10-week equity-free accelerator program for Seed to Series A startups based in Europe & Israel. The accelerator aims to connect the best of Google's products and people to climate change and clean technology innovators across the region building with Cloud Services.
About the program
Google for Startups Accelerator: Climate Change is a 10-week, equity-free hybrid program for Seed to Series A startups tackling Climate Change with tech. In partnership with Google Cloud and Google Sustainability, the European program helps high-potential startups based in Europe & Israel grow with the best of Google through a mix of in-person and virtual activities, 1: 1 mentoring, and group learning sessions.
In addition to mentorship and technical project support, The Google for Startups Accelerator: Climate Change program features deep dives and workshops focused on product design, business growth, and leadership development. Selected startups will also benefit from dedicated Google Cloud technical expertise and receive credits via the Google for Startups Cloud Program.
Entry Criteria
- Startups demonstrating traction, ideally between Seed and Series A stage.
- Building a scalable product or service with a significant total addressable market and defensible growth model.
- Focusing on sustainable technology climate solutions, cleantech and green energy.

2024 Grant Program Application Information
The Conservation Nation Grant Program provides funding to help save endangered animals and their ecosystems by building a stronger, more diverse community of conservation practitioners. We believe there is great conservation progress to be made by broadening the field of committed individuals working to address the global wildlife conservation challenge.
Conservation Nation supports innovative, on-the-ground conservation around the world by practitioners from underrepresented communities. Our focus is on helping foster conservation solutions that serve the needs of both nature and people in terrestrial, marine, or freshwater ecosystems that support a wide range of biodiversity.
The 2024 Conservation Nation Grant Program aims to financially support conservationists engaged in wildlife conservation, biodiversity protection, and sustainable practices. This grant will assist early to mid-career conservationists in their efforts by granting up to US$2,500 each, which will fund activities that are essential for their life-saving work but may not be covered by standard grant programs.
In addition to providing funding, we support our grantees through the Conservation Nation Network where we provide ongoing professional development, resources, connections, and capacity-building opportunities to ensure their growth and success.

E-TRACK PROGRAMME
Run in partnership with ayoba, the e-Track Programme is a two-phase early-stage venture acceleration and a capacity-building programme for high-impact entrepreneurs in South Africa and beyond. Taking a high-touch scale-up approach, the programme is designed to support teams build scalable businesses with international potential. Individual participants can either explore their own business idea or join an existing venture. The programme also serves as a platform for corporate partners to engage and collaborate on specific research and development agendas.
e-Track is a two-phase venture acceleration programme, tackling the various stages of venture building and development.
- Phase one is the 5-week Venture Launch course which focuses on validating the venture concept.
- Phase two is the 12-week Venture Scale course which is aimed at accelerating the development of the validated venture.
