African Development Development Bank ( AFDB ) Internship Program 2024
THE BANK:
Established in 1964, the African Development Bank is the premier pan-African development institution, promoting economic growth and social progress across the continent. There are 81 member states, including 54 in Africa (Regional Member Countries). The Bank’s development agenda is delivering the financial and technical support for transformative projects that will significantly reduce poverty through inclusive and sustainable economic growth. In order to sharply focus the objectives of the Ten-Year Strategy (2023 – 2032) and ensure greater developmental impact, five major areas, all of which will accelerate our delivery for Africa, have been identified for scaling up, namely; energy, agro-business, industrialization, integration and improving the quality of life for the people of Africa. The Internship program is part of a wider Talent Management Framework which facilitates the Bank to deliver on the Ten-Year Strategy and the High 5s.
Objectives:
The broad objectives of the program are to:
- Provide students with an opportunity to acquire professional and practical experience at the African Development Bank.
- Provide the Bank with a pool of potential candidates for future recruitment purposes.
However, applicants should not expect the internship to lead to immediate employment with the Bank.
The Fields of Study Required for the Internship:
- The fields of study from which interns are selected must be within the job families of the Bank, particularly Economics, Agriculture, Private Sector Development, Human Capital Development (Education and Health), Environment, Finance, Infrastructure Development, Human Resources Management, Information Technology, Communications, Law, Internal Audit, Budget, Governance or any other field of study that the Bank may deem relevant to its operations.
- Special consideration shall be given to students who are working on projects that have a direct bearing on the mission of the Bank.
Timeline for Session 2 of the 2024 Internship Program:
Session 2 of the 2024 Internship Program will commence in July 2024.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must have attained the age of majority in their country of nationality or origin and be not more than Thirty (30) years old at the time of commencement of the internship program.
- Be currently enrolled in a master’s level degree program in a recognized public or private educational institution of higher learning.
- The candidate can apply for an internship within one (1) year of having obtained such a degree.
- Be nationals of the member Countries of the African Development Bank.
- Provide a letter from their school confirming their enrollment or a copy of the above-mentioned Degree. Applicants must be fluent in at least one of the Banks’s two working languages (English or French).
- Be able to use the Bank's standard software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); knowledge of SAP is desirable.
The announcement for session 1 of the 2025 Internship Program will be made in October 2024 and selected interns will commence in January 2025.

ASEAN Blue Innovation Challenge ( ABIC ) 2024
The ASEAN Blue Innovation Challenge represents a unique initiative aimed at fostering the development of the blue economy in ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste. It seeks to identify, finance, and support innovative solutions geared towards the conservation and sustainable management of marine ecosystems, coastal areas, and freshwater resources. In addition to providing financial support, it facilitates connections between innovators and potential stakeholders, including investors and business entities.
Participant Requirements
- A minimum of 3 (three) people representing a legal entity/organization.
- The team is required to have male and female members, ensuring gender balance.
- Team members must be at least 18 years old and have legal identity as a citizen in ASEAN member states and/or Timor-Leste
- Submit registration and administrative requirements according to the provisions through the online form
- Have at least 1 (one) years in operation OR established before April 2023
- Have good financial standing, proven with record of ongoing and completed projects in the last 1 year and a reference from previous client/partner.

International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) Africa Programme 2024
The International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) is an independent, non-profit organisation
with offices in Geneva and New York. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to view the
international and regional human rights systems at work. It provides hands-on experience
working for an international non-governmental organization (NGO) as well as the opportunity
to contribute to our work supporting human rights defenders, strengthening human rights
systems, legal frameworks, building and leading human rights coalitions, and responding to
significant and systemic human rights concerns.
About the position
ISHR seeks to host a postgraduate Fellow to support our work within the Africa
Programme.Working in a small team, the Fellow will have the opportunity to learn at close
hand what it means to work for an international human rights advocacy organization. The
Fellow will also have the opportunity to collaborate with ISHR staff in all locations.
In a year’s work with ISHR, the Fellow will gain experience monitoring a number of
deliberations and negotiations of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights
(ACHPR) and lobbying and advocating in those fora in line with ISHR’s mandate and
priorities. The Fellow will gain hands-on experience on the application of international and
regional human rights law in a multilateral human rights system, including advocacy on
normative and policy advances for the protection of human rights defenders in Africa.
The Fellow will also contribute to our work on capacity development and legislative protection
of defenders at the national level. There may also be opportunities to work at the
international level with the United Nations human rights mechanisms.
UNESCO’s International Fund for Cultural Diversity
UNESCO is launching the fifteenth call for applications to the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD). Through an open and competitive process, projects will be selected based on their ability to generate concrete and lasting results towards the development of the creative sectors in developing countries that are Parties to the 2005 Convention.
Project proposals should contribute to:

The implementation and/or elaboration of policies and measures that have a direct, structural impact on the creation, production, distribution and access to a diversity of cultural goods and services;

The strengthening of capacities in public institutions and civil society organizations to support viable local and regional cultural industries and markets.
Public institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from eligible countries are invited to submit their proposals, as well as international NGOs registered in countries that are Parties to the 2005 Convention.
Since 2010, the IFCD has invested more than US$ 11.5 million through 152 projects in 71 developing countries. These diverse initiatives have contributed to the development and implementation of cultural policies, the strengthening of professional training and cultural entrepreneurship, supported access to new markets, and the participation and inclusion of vulnerable groups in cultural life.
Through the IFCD's 2024 call for applications, UNESCO renews its commitment to strengthening the cultural and creative industries in developing countries, as fundamental pillars for protecting and promoting cultural diversity, encouraging creativity and innovation, and for building a more sustainable world.
The IFCD is a key instrument of international cooperation and assistance for the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005).
The fifteenth call for applications opens on 15 April 2024 and closes on 14 June 2024, noon Paris time.

JAPANESE GOVERNMENT (MONBUKAGAKUSHO) MEXT SCHOLARSHIPS 2025 FOR UNDERGRADUATE AND RESEARCH STUDY IN JAPAN (FULLY FUNDED)
Application are now open for the Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship 2025 for Research Students, Undergraduate and College of Technology.
The Embassy of Japan offers Japanese Government-Sponsored MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Scholarship every year. MEXT scholarship supports foreign students who study in higher education institutions, selected on the recommendation of the Embassy.The application is now open for undergraduate and research students.
MEXT accepts applications from international students for study in Japan who satisfy the following qualifications and conditions. Its aim is to foster human resources who will become bridges of friendship between the grantee’s country and Japan through study in Japan and who will contribute to the development of both countries and the wider world.
SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS
(1) Allowance: 117,000 yen per month. A supplemental regional allowance of 2,000 yen or 3,000 yen per month will be added to the monthly scholarship amount for the grantees studying or conducting research in specially designated regions. Due to the situation of the Japanese Government’s budget, the amount of payment may be subject to change each fiscal year. If a grantee is absent from the university or the preparatory educational institution for an extended period, the scholarship shall be suspended for that period.
(2) Education Fees: Fees for the entrance examination, matriculation, and tuition at universities will be paid by MEXT.
(3) Traveling Expenses
① Transportation to Japan: MEXT will stipulate the travel schedule and route, and provide an airline ticket to grantees who will arrive in Japan during the specified period stated in “5.
(6) Arrival in Japan”. The airline ticket will be an economy-class ticket for the flight from the international airport closest to the grantee’s residence (in principle, the country of nationality) to an international airport in Japan used on the normal route to the accepting university. The grantee shall bear at his/her own expense all costs related to domestic travel from the grantee’s residence to the nearest international airport, airport taxes, airport usage fees, special taxes necessary for travel, travel expenses within Japan (including airline transit costs), travel insurance expenses, carry-on luggage or unaccompanied baggage expenses, etc.
NIGERIA LNG LIMITED (NLNG) POST GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS AWARD 2024 FOR MASTER’S STUDY IN THE UNITED KINGDOM.
Applications are now open for the 2024 Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) Post Graduate Scholarships for young Nigerian graduates. Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), as part of its social investment initiative in education, invites applications from qualified candidates into the NLNG Post Graduate Scholarship Scheme for Master’s degree programmes in the United Kingdom in September 2024. The Schemes seek to grow a pool of high potential Nigerian graduates and professionals with a competitive advantage.
Who Can Apply
- Must be a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, resident in Nigeria, and committed to returning to Nigeria after completing the studies.
- Must have graduated from a public university in Nigeria.
- Must have completed one year of compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)

- Graduated with a minimum of Second Class Honours (upper division) in relevant field of study.
- Completed NYSC program.
- Have a minimum of 8.0 IELTS score (with not less than 7.0 in each element), OR 102 grade at TOEFL, OR 73-79 grade at Pearson Test of English Language (PTE).
- Be NOT more than 30 years of age at the time of application.
- Provide a letter of identification from applicable Local Government Council.
- Provide a letter of consent from employer (if in service of any organization).

- Possess an international passport valid for travel, for at least one year from September 2024.
- Able to obtain a UK Tier-4 student visa if successful.

Benefits
- This scheme was launched in October 2012 with an annual intake of 15 beneficiaries to study in leading UK universities. The value of the scholarship is USD67,500 per awardee per study. Actual spend per awardee however ranges from USD45,000 to USD67,500, depending on the course of study.

To further boost Human Resource Development in the Niger Delta region, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Is once again embarking on its Foreign Post Graduate Scholarship Programme to equip the young people with relevant training and skills for effective participation in the local content programme of the Federal Government in their fields of study and thus compete globally in various professional disciplines.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must hail from the Niger Delta Region and have achieved a First Class, Second Class Upper, or Lower Division Bachelor Degree. And not more than 40 years old.
Selection Process

- Preliminary Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on the following criteria:
- WASSCE/NECO results
- Undergraduate Degree classification (1st Class, Second Class Upper/Lower)
- Local Government Identification
- Computer-Based Test: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a computer-based test conducted by our consultants in Rivers State.
- Minimum Test Score: Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 70% in the test to proceed to the next stage.
- Further Shortlisting: Candidates who successfully pass the test will be further shortlisted.
- Final Verification: The final verification of the candidates will be done through the Local Government Area (LGA) and Community Development Committee (CDC).
The Scholarship
- The amount for the foreign scholarship shall be based on the prevailing exchange rate of the Naira.
