The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) provides the UK government scholarship scheme led by international development objectives. It operates within the framework of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship plan (CSFP) and offers a vivid demonstration of the UK’s enduring commitment to the Commonwealth.

Purpose: Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships enable talented and motivated individuals to access training and skills required for sustainable development not available in their home countries.

Intended beneficiaries: Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships are for candidate from eligible low and middle income Commonwealth countries, to undertake part-time taught Master’s study with UK universities while remaining in their home countries.

ONE WORLD MEDIAA FELLOWSHIPS 2024 (1Euro's Grant)

Since 2001, One World Media has supported nearly 300 emerging journalists and filmmakers to report from over 100 countries. OWM provides each Fellow with a £1,000 grant, one-to-one mentoring, invaluable workshops and webinars by industry experts.

UNCCD Youth Caucus- Land Heroes

The UNCCD Land Heroes campaign recognizes and supports young individuals and youth-led/based organizations making positive impacts against desertification, land degradation, and drought. Through online engagement, we raise awareness, share success stories, and empower youth as change agents in sustainable land management, engaging them in implementing the convention.

Objective

The Land Heroes campaign aims to identify, celebrate, and support youth aged 18-35 engaged in sustainable land management, raising awareness of land's link to biodiversity and climate. By sharing stories, we inspire change, unite youth, provide mentorship, and showcase the transformative power of collective efforts.

  1. Drought resilience:
    • Early warning systems: Implementing proactive measures to anticipate and respond to drought conditions effectively.
    • Mitigating the effects of drought: Innovative strategies for drought impact mitigation and ensure water availability.
    • Adopting scalable and inclusive approaches: Promoting strategies that can be expanded to larger scales and inclusive of vulnerable populations to enhance drought resilience.
  2. Land restoration:
    • Large-scale land restoration: Leadership in restoring degraded land on a large scale, contributing to ecosystem restoration and biodiversity conservation.
    • Community-level land restoration: Impactful initiatives restoring degraded land at the community level, enhancing livelihoods and resilience.
  3. Inclusivity and equality:
    • Gender equality and women's empowerment: Initiatives promoting gender equality in land ownership, decision-making, and conservation efforts
    • Social equity: Initiatives promoting poverty eradication, social cohesion, etc.

Call for Submissions Young storytellers from Landlocked Developing Countries

Are you a young person between 18-35 years old from a landlocked developing country (LLDC)? We are looking for passionate and creative storytellers from LLDCs to submit digital content (photos or videos) showcasing the compelling stories and unique experiences of young people in these nations.
A selected number of fellows will be fully funded to participate in the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Landlocked Developing Countries to be held in Kigali in June 2024.

Deadline submissions: 8 March, 2024 (EST time)

LLDC3 in Kigali will be where world leaders will come together to shape a new action plan to achieve a better, more sustainable future for all. No one is excluded. This decision will have an impact on the lives of millions of young people, and it is your right to have a say and forge it!

Edinburgh Global Undergraduate Mathematics Scholarships

The Edinburgh Global Undergraduate Mathematics Scholarship is awarded to international applicants who demonstrate outstanding academic performance.

AWARDS

We are offering a number of scholarships for applicants demonstrating the highest levels of academic achievement. The scholarships are worth £5,000 each and will be paid directly to students in instalments as contributions to living costs.

ELIGIBILITY

The scholarships are awarded to applicants with International fee status who are accepted for full-time admission to an undergraduate degree programme hosted in the School of Mathematics at the University.

Applicants should have applied to the University of Edinburgh through the University and College Admissions Service (UCAS), but do not need to have received an offer in order to begin the scholarship application process.

CRITERIA

The scholarship is competitive and based on academic merit.
