COMMONWEALTH MASTERS SCHOLARSHIP 2024/2025 (FULLY-FUNDED)

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) provides the UK government scholarship scheme led by international development objectives. It operates within the framework of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) and offers a vivid demonstration of the UK’s enduring commitment to the Commonwealth. By attracting individuals with outstanding talent and identifiable potential from all backgrounds and supporting them to become leaders and innovators on returning to their home countries, the CSC’s work combines sustainable development with the UK national interest and provides opportunities for international partnerships and collaboration.

SCHOLARSHIP

Applications must include supporting documentation to be eligible. Applicants must upload the following documents with the application:

  • Proof that they are a citizen or have refugee status in an eligible Commonwealth country: a copy of a valid passport (or national ID card) showing a photograph, date of birth, and country of citizenship.
  • Full transcripts detailing all higher education qualifications, including to-date transcripts for any courses currently being studied, with certified translations if not in English. Where any transcripts are missing or do not include all pages, the application will be considered ineligible.
  • References from at least two individuals, in PDF format, signed and on institutional letterhead or an email clearly showing the sender’s details.

Applications will be considered ineligible if any of the required documentation is not included by the closing date.

Applicant eligibility

To be considered for these scholarships, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.
  • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
  • Be available to start academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September 2024.
  • By September 2024, hold a first degree of at least upper second-class (2:1) honors standard, or a lower second-class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree)*. The CSC would not normally fund a second Master’s degree. If applying for a second Master’s degree, applicants must provide justification as to why they wish to undertake this study.
  • Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship.
  • Have provided all supporting documentation in the required format.

SELECTION CRITERIA


Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program 2024 (fully-funded and up to $200,000 USD in grants)

The Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program is a two-month, cost-covered training program that gives a small cohort of talented people from all over the world everything they need to launch a field-leading charity.

Since 2018, we have assisted 50+ individuals from a wide range of backgrounds in launching 27 high-impact charities. Several are now on track to becoming field leaders, surpassing the cost-effectiveness of most impactful interventions in the areas of global health & development, animal welfare, and family planning (as evaluated by respected organizations such as Founders Pledge, GiveWell, and Rethink Priorities).

PROGRAM DETAILS

The program runs online with two weeks in person.

The incubation program last for 8 weeks followed by a two weeks seed funding process. During the 2 week seed funding process, you make final improvement to your proposal, which is then submitted to our seed network who will make the final decision on grant.

Full time commitment is required during the program(i.e 8+ hours per week)

    During the program, they provide:

  • Career mentorship (our track record for connecting non-founder participants to research grants, related jobs and other pathways to impact is near 100%)
  • Two months stipends to provide net during the period of looking for alternative opportunity
  • Continued access to the CE community through the slack network

About the Scholarship

Belfast City Council has committed to sponsor 20 young leaders to participate in the 2023 Summit through the Belfast City Council | One Young World Scholarship. This opportunity is open to young leaders living and making an impact in Belfast.

Scholars will recieve

  • Full access to the One Young World Summit 2023 which takes place from 2 - 5 October.
  • Catering throughout the duration of the event.
  • Lifetime membership of the One Young World Ambassador Community.

Selection Criteria

Selected candidates will:

  • Be aged between 18 - 30 at the time of the One Young World Summit 2023 (02/10/2023)
  • Live in Belfast
  • Be a current employee of Belfast City Council (permanent, temporary, agency or industrial placement) OR an individual who is actively engaged in initiatives or programmes which directly benefit the people of Belfast (either in a paid capacity or through volunteering)
  • Have experience supporting or leading impactful solutions to address areas such as good relations, environmental, education, wellbeing or skills-based challenges
  • Applications are particularly welcome from individuals who can demonstrate an ongoing commitment to:
    • Reducing carbon emissions
    • Reducing the negative impact of climate change through technology, activism, community programmes, policy, nature-based solutions or similar efforts
    • Empowering individuals to take climate action
    • Improving access to education, skills or employment opportunities
    • Creating skills development or lifelong learning opportunities for people to prepare for the future workforce, including in areas where there are talent shortages
    • Accelerating entrepreneurship, new types of employment to provide opportunities for people to overcome traditional barriers to employment
  • Commit to engaging with a pre and post Summit engagement programme including preparatory meetings, a group residential post Summit and reporting on impact of attendance
  • Demonstrate capacity for innovation and value-driven problem solving.
  • Demonstrate an ability to generate and articulate impactful ideas.

WORLD BIENNIAL OF STUDENT PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST 2023

Since its beginnings in 2004, the World Biennial of Student Photography has grown into an important platform for exchange of ideas and cross-cultural encounters. Nowadays it stands as the first manifestation in the region to promote the achievements of national and international students in the field of photography. It gathers, via public competition, students’ work in one place, thus presenting a section of pedagogical practices of diverse art institutions worldwide in the form of a group exhibition.

 

SUBMISSION INFORMATION

  1. The World Biennial of Student Photography is open to all undergraduate and graduate students of academies and colleges where the discipline of photography is part of the curriculum.
  2. Theme: there is no prescribed theme to the competition; we welcome all subjects and themes realized within the study programme. All photographs must represent the student’s original work created as part of photographic practice at their educational institution, which is verified in application form.
  3. All participants must be full or part-time students enrolled into an academic institution (university or college) at the time of applying for the competition.
  4. Number of works: Each student can submit up to ten (10) photographs which are done as part of academic assignment. This can be accompanied with a short description of the work in English (up to 200 words) – an artist statement.
    *If the work submitted are in the form other than traditional photography work (such as photo book, photographic installation etc.), please send both the selected photographs and provide the link to the website page where the whole body of work is presented.
  5. Format: the shorter side of the image should not exceed 35cm, 300 dpi sRGB, JPG or PDF. The files should not exceed 10 MB per image. The name of the photography files must contain the name and surname of the student. For example if student’s name is Johann Strauss the file name should be Johann Strauss 1.jpg, Johann Strauss 2.jpg, Johann Strauss 3.jpg.
  6. Technique: There are no limitations on techniques or realization of the photographs.
  7. There is no entry fee.

MEST Africa Challenge is a Pan-African pitch competition for early-stage technology startups seeking to ramp up traction and growth.

This year, we are thrilled to bring even more excitement to early-stage technology entrepreneurs with startups based in Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Kenya, and South Africa.

The Youth Climate Justice Fund supports with core flexible funding to emerging youth climate justice collectives. Groups can apply for a grant of up to USD 10,000, which can be used for a period of 12 months.

 

What are the criteria for applying?

  • our group or collective is led by young people aged 35 years and below. In order to be eligible for a YCJF grant, the majority of your leadership must be young people or the individuals with decision making power should be aged 35 years and below.
  • Your group, network or collective is based in Africa; the Middle East; Asia-Pacific, South Asia; Latin America and the Caribbean; and Central, and Eastern Europe.
