Ability Project

Ability Project

Too often across Africa, persons with disabilities are disproportionately likely to live in poverty and not have equal access to education, health care, employment opportunities, housing, social protection systems, justice, cultural expression and participation in political life. A common misconception is that persons with disabilities are not productive members of the workforce, which may lead employers to discriminate against applicants with disabilities, even if they are highly qualified to perform the work.

Ability is a sensitization project targeted at changing the negative narrative around disability by encouraging people to recognize disabled people, not for their disability but their ability and the value they can contribute to society.
