Are you passionate about contributing to the global fight against HIV/AIDS? UNAIDS is offering an exciting internship opportunity within its Data for Impact (DFI) Practice. As an intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of the 2024 Global AIDS Update Report, contributing to the analysis of epidemiological and program data, and collaborating with a diverse team of experts.
Internship Tasks: Under the supervision of the UNAIDS Technical Officer, Programme Monitoring and Reporting, you will be involved in the following tasks:
- Supporting the Development of the 2024 Global AIDS Update Report:
- Collaborate with the report writing team.
- Follow up on deliverables and track file versions.
- Assist in copyediting and design processes.
- Analysis of HIV Infection Trends and Societal Enablers Indicators:
- Conduct a systematic review of available UNAIDS trend data.
- Analyze new HIV infection trends among key populations.
- Evaluate progress against societal enablers indicators.
- Review and Visualization of Country-Submitted Data:
- Support the review of data submitted through the GAM tool.
- Propose new data visualizations and infographics for the Global Report.
- Thematic and Regional Factsheets Compilation:
- Compile inputs from Global Report focal points.
- Assist in drafting thematic and regional factsheets.
- Follow up on clearance, copyediting, and design workflows.
- PowerPoint Slide Deck Development:
- Collaborate with the team to develop slide decks summarizing key points and graphics.
- Feature Stories Development:
- Support collaboration with UNAIDS’ report writing and communications teams.
- Track the identification and development of feature stories for the Global Report’s launch.
Required Qualifications:
- Recently completed or enrolled in an advanced Master’s level degree in public health, epidemiology, international relations, or a related field.
- Competencies in UNAIDS values, commitment to the AIDS response, integrity, and respect for diversity.

Experience:
- Strong writing and quantitative research skills, especially in HIV literature and evidence.

- Languages: Solid English skills; knowledge of French, Spanish, or Russian is an asset.
